I have a 1998 Ford Expedition and have been having a problem with the Anti-Theft System. If I leave my tailgate/hatch open (even as short as 30 minutes), the truck won't start. Just the "Anti-Theft" light on the dashboard goes on. I have to have it jumpstarted and then it is fine.

This also happens if I leave the key in the ignition and the truck is off.

From reading my Owner's Manual, it seems as though we are supposed to have a special key to put in the ignitition and then start it with our normal key, but we never received that.

Does anyone else have this problem???

I have never heard of this problem. Sounds like in the first desription you have run your battery down, due to having to jumpstart it.
