I own a 99 expedition 5.4 L engine. I just started to have some starter problems with it. When the engine is running the starter kick's in as if I was turning the ignition switch. This makes a loud noise, because the starter is trying to engage but the engine is already running. I removed the starter and had it checked and Autozone said nothing was wrong with it. I replaced the ignition module and the ignition switch and its still doing the same thing. Also the problem is not very consistent.
Has anybody had the same problem I'm seeing. I would appreciate your prompt responce.

I realize this thread is old but, does this happen within a few seconds of it starting? If so, does it sound like a loud grind. I have this problem that I just described. I shook it off as being anoying more than a problem. Have you heard different?
