Broken Plastic Gas Cap Insert?

I have a 2003 Expedition 5.4. The plastic insert that attaches to the filler tube and accepts the gas cap screw/locking mechanism has a piece missing at the edge from gas pump/nozzle usage. This causes the gas cap to not seal the tank and creates a check engine light. I have tried the dealer and they say I have to buy a complete upper filler tube for $260.00! This can't be right! It's a simple plastic insert that has to be manufactured separately. Does anyone know where this can be purchased? Thnx for any assistance.

Re: Broken Plastic Gas Cap Insert?

Go to Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market and click on live chat. Ask for the filler tube assembly. Looks like these recycling yards are selling the entire tank for about $200. You should be able to pick up the filler tube for a lot less.
