buying an Expedition - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

I'm in the market for a used expedition 2004 or later. I have my eye on a 2004 expedition with 17,600 mi. Its a 2WD E.B., but its got the 4.6 triton. At times I would be pulling a small trailer with model airplane gear on trips. Is the 4.6 triton gonna be dissappointing performer hauling 4 adults and a trailer?

The 4.6 will work, but for towing a 5.4 would be more suitable...you're going to regret not getting 4wd in the future if you buy the one you're talking about...for the little bit more money you'll spend it'll be worth it.

Go with the 5.4L Triton. I had a 98 Expedition with the 4.6L....Ford should never have put that motor in that size vehicle. Ok around town, but it will constantly shift when you pull anything or put a load on it. They get about the same mileage also.
