sup guys, i have a 1998 5.4 lincoln navigator with a check engine light and my friend scanned it and it showed a p304 code. my other friend said that it is a misfire on cylinder #4 and that i should replace one of the coil packs. anyone can show me how to replace the coil pack or have any pictures or which one cylinder #4 is. any advise and or tips would be greatly appreciated. thanks again

Cylinder #4 is the the rear cylinder on the passengers side. Unplug the connector, remove the small bolt and it pulls up. Clean any debri that might fall down the hole before removing it. Reverse to install.

Nothing special. Just a socket and ratchet.

It's usually a 7mm six point socket or wrench for that coil hold down bolt. If you want to get to that sparkplug I use a SK flexible 3/8" extension in the 8" or 10" lengths. Like Bert said, take a compressor or something and blow the dirt and debris away from the area before you remove the coil pack so it doesn't go down the sparkplug hole. You can swap the #4 coil pack with one of the others and see if the misfire follows the coil pack.

make sure to check the heater core hoses above that cylinder on the firewall, i have had a few of them that leaked and would short out the coil and ruin the spark plug in cylinder 4. it is cheap insurance to replace the spark plug and coil at the same time. blow out the hole with high pressure air after removing the coil boot. replace coil and boot as well.
