Dead compass/temperature display

I have a 2002 Expedition and the compass/ temperature display stopped working the other day, I priced out a new one to find out that I have to buy the whole overhead cluster at about $850.00canadian Anyone got any suggestions? It is the model without the trip computer, it has only one button (select)

Re: Dead compass/temperature display

Are you sure the connection to the control has not wiggled loose? Also check the appropriate fuse, I cant recall if it is shared with other items that you can notice easily. Other then that try a junk yard for a similar module

Thanks for the advise, the fuse is the first thing I should have tryed. I know it;s not the connector because I've already had the modual out and put back in.
