confused Do you like your truck

I have purchaced a new XLT Expedition and am waiting for delivery. I wanted to know if you like your truck and what you don't like about it. Everybody that I talk to seems to like the truck but not the gas milage. What do you really get as far as milage. I am told by some that they get around 12 average and 7-8 towing. This seems kinda low. Is there anything that is a problem area with this truck? Thanks for you time.

Mark

Re: Do you like your truck

The new Expeditions are pretty reliable from my experience. Gas mileage sucks, but what did you expect?

Re: Do you like your truck

I love my Expedition. Have a 2001 Eddie Baurer with 5.4 L, 3rd row seat and rear entertainment system. Really nice for roadtrips. I have 116,000 miles on it, and it has been very reliable. Only thing has been a transmission rebuild at 75,000, but that was caused by an internal part that was only used on the 2000s and 2001s. I don't use the 3rd row seat much, so usually leave it out so I can get all that storage area.

My mileage is bad, like everyone else. I get about 10 city, and 16 highway. I average in my normal driving aroud 14.5. I have noticed that highway is best if you keep it 65 or under. I have a hard time with that. I've gotten as high as 19 on the highway on cool nights.

If you want to keep your wheels clean... don't cheap out on brakes when they need replacing. I use Wagner Thermo Quiet pads all the way around. No dust on the wheels, and they last about twice as long as the cheap ones. Its a 5000 pound vehicle, and not easy to stop. The Wagner pads and good tires make a huge difference. I get a no questions replacement warranty, so, you get one set replacement on each set you purchase. In the long run it is a much better value... and my wheels stay clean!

Enjoy your new truck.

Re: Do you like your truck

My old 03 navigator (now have 07) got about 14.5/16 on a 5.4l DOHC.
Your expedition with the 5.4l 3-v should get around 18/22 depnding if it is EL or not.
