Front Drive Shaft Stuck??? Help!!!

So I had the 'clankity clank' noise coming from my driveshaft and thanks to Alloro's how-to on removing the front driveshaft I was able to remove it...well not really.

I removed the four(4) bolts on either side of the shaft but the side thats by the transmission will not budge. Is there some trick to taking this out? Does it have to be in gear? I am sooo pissed that I got past what I figured would be the really hard part, taking pics so I can have my own how-to, and I am STUCK. Which one of the 3 red arrows in my pic should the drive shaft separate from? Please, someone help!!!

It will separate at the point where the left arrow is located.

Re: Front Drive Shaft Stuck??? Help!!!

Thanks for the replies! I didnt want to pry or tap on anything with a hammer to break it free before I knew where it comes apart at. I sprayed some PB Blaster on it last night before I quit so I can break the rust apart. I will try and let you know. Thanks again!

Re: Front Drive Shaft Stuck??? Help!!!

I GOT THE SUMAB(*&% OFF!!! Took me under a minute. Got under there with a hammer and a little screwdriver, two lite taps later it fell off. That sucker was damn near welded on with rust i guess. Anyway, I am dropping the caroff the stands for now because it's too late to start replacing the u-joints now. I hope I can drive like this?!?!?

Re: Front Drive Shaft Stuck??? Help!!!

So i wake up early today to start working on the car. Plan was to replace the passenger side o2 sensor(because i got a CEL and I need to get an inspection), put the ujoints on the driveshaft and install, and maybe, if I had time and felt like it, drop the gas tank and fix my inoperable fuel sender.

I wanted to do the O2 first because I didnt want to wake up/annoy the neighbors with loud banging noises working on the driveshaft. All I have to say is one thing.....Whoever was the braniac that designed the placement of the upstream right side O2 SENSORNEEDS TO BE SHOT!!!!! What a stupid place for the sensor!!! Holy crap! So between off and on rain all day and the ridiculous location of the O2 sensor, I was only able to get the driveshaft put together and ready to install so no 'how to' yet.

I removed the wheel-well cover, loosened the dipstick and moved it to the side for access but no cigar. Next I will try to unbolt the cat from the head and see if that helps. PLEASE, anyone with suggestions or best way to remove the right side O2 sensor on a 2001 5.4L A4WD PLEASE send it this way...more to follow.
