Hi Again,
Since I am here I need to ask this question,
Does the 97 Expedition XLT 4.6 lit have a plastic fuel tank?
I been have my fuel injectors cloging with rust. I was told by ford after they charged me $250 dollars to clean my fuel rails that the rust is coming from the fuel tank and I should not let the fuel go below a 1/4 tank. And that I should chage my fuel filter 3 times a year. Well I took the fuel filter off and took it apart to find no rust in it. The fuel rails are stainless right? So I think it must be the fuel line from the filter to the rails. Would that be correct? or would someone else have an Idea about this.

This might be way off the wall. To my knowledge FFV vehicles are the only vehicles with stainless for the fuel lines. I would think a fuel filter would stop any large particles from conglomerating together. I do agree with keeping your tank full- if your vehicle sits for extended periods without use. You may want to check on the following:

Are you filling your tank at a "farm barrel"?
Are you filling your tank at an older station that may have degrading tanks?

I still think that any large deposits would never make it to the injector. There are some models that have had problems with the fuel rails rusting. Dodge Caravans even had recalls specific to this problem before the model was more than 6 years old.

Maybe some other members would have some more info or comments on this subject.
