2000 Exp, 188,000 miles
I have noticed this week a high pitch whinning sound (almost like bees buzzing) when I accelerate, espeicially from stop position. Sound seems to go away when I take my foot off of the accelerator. Doesn't seem to make the sound when the car is in park or neutral and I push on the gas. I have not notice dany other real problems with transmission or gears shifting.

Someone suggested the bearing for the tranny front input shaft. if, so, would this be expensive to replace?

It it most likely the torque converter and if so, woulf that require a new or rebuilt transmission? 2000 model with 188,000 miles, would it be worth sinking another $3,000 plus into?
