Hessitation / clunk engagement while turning

Hello all,

I am new to this forum. I have already searched, but to no avail. Despite this fact, I wanted to know if any of you have had issues w/ your automatic 4 wheel drive?

A friend of mine has a 2K expedition. Let's say she's going out of a parking lot. She turns the wheel and hits the gas. At this point the vehicle should accelerate w/ no problem. She claims that the car sits there and then after a little bit clunks into gear. This has happened many times and she has taken it to her mechanic to be diagnosed. There have been no codes and no issues (seems not to happen all the time). This issue has been going on for over a year now.

Is there any TSB's or something that will help her out? Please help guys, she has no where else to go!

Re: Hessitation / clunk engagement while turning

It has to do with the transmission not kicking down properly. A chip should fix the problem right up - the current computer program is designed for comfort and gas mileage. You can get a chip/tuner that will setup the tranny to downshift when you give it the gas - the same way you would if you were driving a stick.

Hope this is of some help.
