Hi everyone.

I own a 1998 Navigator and I'm trying to find out how much horsepower it has. I've always assumed 230 because that's what I read the initial '98 model had.

But, we bought it used around 2001 and recently I read somewhere that later in the '98 model year they upped the HP to 260. I'm not sure if maybe I read that wrong or something, so can anyone confirm?

How can I check my HP?

I heard somewhere that the 5.4L had about a 300 bhp, otherwise get it dyno tested

The 5.4 3V came out with 300hp in 2004. The 4.6L was put to pasture late 2003 due to the weight increase of the new 2003 model, so the power to weight ratio suffered. Earlier Ex's such as your '98 can have anywhere from 215-230hp depending on engine. The 4.6L had 215hp and the 5.4L came standard with 230 for 1998.

well mine is a 5.4L so I guess its got 230.

damn. i was hoping it was 260. oh well, at least now i know why sometimes i gotta floor it to make it up a hill.

You can easily get 260hp with basic bolt on mods and a programmer if that really matters to you. Performance Parts Online for Cars and Trucks - Performance Center can give you some ideas
