navigation device

I just purchased 2004 Navigator with a navigation device. The system does not work from my house. Last summer 2003, a new freeway opened near my house and we use it to depart and to arrive home. The navigation device does not recognize this freeway, consequently it can not give me proper directions. I have since found out that the navigation device in a 2004 Navigator is a 2003 model. The 2004 upgrade isnt available till Sept 2004. I feel that Ford or the dealership should make available this upgrade at no cost to customers who have purchased a 2004 Navigator. The window sticker that was on the vehicle gives me the impression the navigation device is a 2004. Should I pursue this further or just pay for the upgrade myself?

Re: navigation device

There's nothing gauranteeing that the upgrade will show the new freeway. I know on my navigation system there are roads that were changed over 6 years ago and the maps still haven't been updated.

Most of the companies request that YOU send them updated information on roads which are shown incorrectly on their mapping software and they will have a company person confirm the change. The next years updated mapping software will reflect the change.

Re: navigation device

I talked to nav tech and they informed they couldnt tell me whether the new freeway was on the upgrade. They said I would have to by it and install it to find out. If it wasnt on there I have 30 days to return it for a refund.
