Navigator died twice..weird?

Twice in the last few days my 2004 Navigator died when making a turn (once left and once right). It's pretty bad because power steering died and my brakes seemed to not work (but both times it was when making a slow turn so it came to a stop quickly).

I put it in park, started it, and it was fine then.

When it died it looked like I turned it off (low oil pressure light flashed for a second and airbag/battery, like when you put the key in the ignition and turn it half way, ACC I think, without starting it).

What could cause this?

Re: Navigator died twice..weird?

My 2003 Expedition did the same thing a while back, except my wife was driving in the HOV lane with both kids in the truck. She refused to drive it again until I fixed whatever the problem was. I took it to Autozone and had them check the codes. The code was for a faulty crank position sensor. The part was about $20, and I changed it myself. No problems since then. You can look back to one of my previous posts for the detailed instructions on how to change it. Not easy, but not terribly difficult either.
