Hi guys,

I'm a new member to the forum and just wanted to say hi to everyone. I have a97 Expedition, Eddie Bauer, with the 5.4L and 4x4. I have a couple of questions if anyone has any answers I'd be very grateful.

My power mirrors. They only move down and to the left, not up or to the right - on both sides. I am guessing that either the switch or the wiring to the switch is messed up?? Has anyone else had this problem??

Also, my digital compass only reads East all the time, whether it be NE, SE or just E. Never shows West. Any ideas??

I refuse to pay Ford $77 for them to hook it up to their "DIAGNOSTIC" machine to find out what is wrong with it. What did those guys do before the machines came along??? All I hear coming out of their mouths is "Diagnostic machine."!!! What happended to good old fashioned pulling the car apart!

Thanks

I'm having the exact same problem with my 1998 EB, 5.4, 4 X 2 turning my mirrors to the right. I'm highly suspecting the switch. If I apply the right amount of pressure, it'll work.

I have a 2002 but the manual says something about driving around 5x in a circle to reset the compass. You have to push some of the buttons first. Try reading the manual or fo to Ford.com and look at manual for a 220 because I know it's in there. good luck

I personally would go to another dealer. Most dealers will hook you up to a diagnostics machine to see what codes you are throwing and to see where a problem exsists without you having to pay for it. I know of 3 here in DFW that have done it for my FatherInLaw as well as others.
