p0171 p0174

Ive got a 97 5.4 eb edition. Cel for codes p0171 and p0174. No signs of foul play (no rough idle or stalling). Replaced original maf with used replacement, still on. No sounds of air.leaks. I replaced pcv and hose assembly still doing it.

Any ideas?

Did you unhook the battery to reset the PCM?

That I haven't, no. I thought it was like most other check engine light codes that once the problem is fixed and the car no longer finds a problem, clears the code itself.

Some do and some don't. See what happens.

There has to be a vacuum leak somewhere in the system. You don't have to hear them. Since it took so long to come back on, it has to bea small leak that will be hard to find. Maybe the intake gaskets. Does the air filter have V8 embossed on it?

Go to your local Advance Autoparts store and get a new fuel filter. Motorcraft FG1063 (made in USA) , don't buy any other Chinese brand. I just got done doing this for my dad's truck. Same exact codes. It would occasionally go into a high idle for no apparent reason. No other symptoms. The fuel lines are simple squeeze to disconnect style, no tools needed once you pop the plastic shield off.
