Performance question

I'm looking for anything and everything to enhance the performance of my 1998 4.6L Expedition. I already have an exhaust, air intake, chip, and headers. I'm looking for big power adders other than superchargers or nitrous. I thought about getting a new camshaft with valve springs, maybe a new intake manifold, maybe even new cylinder heads. Also, I was wondering how much it might cost to have my engine bored out, or to be port and polished. Does anyone know about how much it would cost to get some of those things installed. One place quoted me almost 2k just to buy the camshaft and valve springs, and get them installed.

Re: Performance question

have you thought about instead of doing all those mods
to your 4.6 do it in a 5.4? just a suggestion, if you have the
$$ the 5.4 would be the best thing to do.. then modify it...
just my opinion..

Re: Performance question

Is there a convenient way to convert a 4.6 into a 5.4? Does anybody know? Seems like a big enough cam should do it, or maybe a combination of bored and stroked...

You know, there's no replacement for displacement!

Re: Performance question

Why not just drop in a 5.4L twin cam navigator motor (300hp)? It's probably cheaper to pick up a good used one and switch engines than keep dropping $$$ in your 4.6L. I'd much rather do that than pull apart your motor to do bore & stroke work.

I'd also consider lower rear end gears, 3.73 minimum. The 3.55 gears are too tall.
