Pitman & Service Manual

Hello,
I am hoping I can obtain some info about repairing a pitman for a '97 Expedition. Also, an online DVD service manual was purchased through ebay but, unfortunately, it is only moderately helping (in providing info and guidance).

I was hoping to find some pictures or 'step-by-step' instructions on this forum and/or through googling but so far, to no avail.

It would be very appreciated if anyone can offer any assistance. I believe it's not a very complicated procedure but I wanted something to go by if the vehicle wasn't taken into a shop for the repair.

Should I try to do it myself or take it to a mechanic? Hmmmm...

Also, I think the DPFE sensor needs to replaced, too (separate issue) but I have some good notes on that repair (including pictures) that I found.

One additional question: what are acceptable service manuals, either DVD or the factory service manual? Most of the manuals I found available for sale that were fairly cheap were the DVD variety. Is the factory service manual, book version, worth it? I'm not sure how much it costs. I was hoping the DVD purchased was sufficiently similar but I'm uncertain how it compares.

Thanks in advance to any responses.

Additional info:
2wd, 5.4 engine, 97 Expedition XLT
