Replacing bags on air suspension on 2000 Exp.

When removing the old bag on the left rear we noticed that the solenoid was broken by the damaged air bag. Ordered a new solenoid from Strutmasters and when we tried to do the install, it would not work. This is the solenoid that they advertise as fitting a 97 - 02 Expidition, WRONG! The correct part has 90 degree air inlet as were there part has a straight air inlet. THEY DO NOT SELL THE CORRECT PART FOR 2000 EXPIDITION.

Does anybody know of any place other than an overpriced dealership that sells the correct part?

Firestone makes Air Bag Kits, and most likely parts. Firestone Industrial Products Co. ~RIDE-RITE™ Air Helper Spring

Re: Replacing bags on air suspension on 2000 Exp.

Those air suspension systems are a nightmare. On my 97 EB, first the bags started leaking, then the pump went. Instead of spending a fortune on the air parts, I got online and found a regular shock replacement kit. It comes with all the brackets and instructions to convert to regular shocks. So glad I did it, and the automotive place I went (San Antonion, TX) charged $225 for the labor, I just brought them the kit (around $150?). They even got behind the dash and turned off the air suspension light. Best money I ever spent. Highly recommended, and any good shop should be able to do it in a few days. Good luck!

Re: Replacing bags on air suspension on 2000 Exp.

you should have just saved yourself time and money and ordered the spring kit from strutmasters and got rid of the air to begin with imho. i've installed literally hundreds of the kits with no problems whatsoever. even comes with instructions to disable the air system.
