I have a 2000 expedition with a 4.6 in it. The other day it started to run rough like it was miss. The truck idles fine but when I drive it about two miles it startes to miss. I'll drive a few more miles and it fine. Also when I go up a hill it will get worse the high up I go on the hill. I've talked to some people and they said to change the fuel filter, or spark plugs. Is there any thing else that could cause this. What sould I do first? Any help would be great. THanks

same symptoms as my 97 f-150 ,,read my post to see what ive done to mine already and still have the miss,plugs,coil packs,wires,changed fuel and air filter,changed plentum gasket,fuel flush,diagnostic test,you name it says 3 cyl.back misfire.ive done about everything but trade it off.hope someone tells you what to do to yours different than what ive already done cause ill sure give it a try.sorry i couldnt help :o(

Could be as simple as bad gas. I ran the truck down to almost empty - something I try to never do, but did this time. I put in 1/2 tank of regular 87 octane gas, and later on in the day the truck ran like crap. It felt like it was missing, but it still ideled. I topped it off with cleaner additive and 93 octane and drove on the highway for awhile. The truck has been running fine so far!
Could be dumb luck, but it worked for me.

You most likely have low compression in your #3 cylinder, most likely a burnt valve.. check it out, it doesnt take much
