I recently purchased an 04 EB Expedition with almost every option including a factory sunroof and DVD player. It is usually stored in the garage. I took my first trip from Florida to Tennessee. We experienced some severe rain while in Tennessee. The next day my wife and children were watching a movie on the dvd player when I took a sharp turn. Water began coming out of the dvd screen. I tested the seal of the sunrrof and found one corner that dripped water. I took it to the dealer where they said it is normal for water to come in as there are channels where the water goes. They said one of the holes was blocked with debris. Is this possible that it is normal for water to come in when the sunroof is closed? I find this hard to believe. I have not driven in any hard rain yet so I will be waiting to see if water decides to come out of the dvd player again.
Yes it is normal for the sunroof to have points where water will come in. There are channels that will allow water out. Of course being a new vehicle I would not expect that there would be debris in there, but it can happen. Did the dealer clear out the debris?
Yes, They said they found a piece of paper in one of the holes. I guess I will have to wait and see if my DVD player turns into a faucet again. I must say I was quite impressed with the service at my local dealership in Jupiter florida.
