What kind of towing Capacity can I expect?

I just bought an '02 Eddie Bauer Expedition with a 5.4L...

Im looking to get a boat, and was wondering what kind of towing Capability I can expect to get out of it.

Any Ideas?

That model and trim can tow about 8,100 lbs. That includes the trailer, fuel, and all passengers and baggage.

Re: What kind of towing Capacity can I expect?

Can the same towing capacity be reached with a 98 Eddie Bauer Expedition with the load leveling setup? I might be borrowing a 4 place enclosed snowmobile trailer, which weighs roughly 4000 lbs., for a moving party. When pulling it last year, it felt like the Expo was struggling. I got kinda concerned, but then again, I never pulled anything that heavy before. What is the max tongue weight my Expo can deal with? Thanks for the help.

Re: What kind of towing Capacity can I expect?

Well, I am sure you have already had your towing party. Hope everything worked out for you.
The 97-02 Expeditions were changed very little, with the exception of added paint colors, engine mods that increased horsepower by about 10% ( starting with the 99 edition) and interior ergonomics. The rim styles, grill and antenna intergration also changed. The F150 frame did not. They did however add some ride leveling suspension components. Your vehicle should have the same towing capabilties as the 2002 version (though you will use more gas, and seem under powered in comparison). Your max tongue weight for the frame mounted reciever is 500 lbs. for the bumper ball mount its 350.
