New to the forum and to hopefully lincoln ownership. Just wanted to see if there is anything special to look for in a used 2003 or 2004 Navigator. Is there any difference? I know in 2005 they put a new engine in and a 6 speed auto but i just can't afford one. I noticed that in consumer reports the 03 gets better rankings than the 04? Is there more problems with the 04?

If you put the information in here, they give a reliability for various years. http://autos.msn.com/home/reliability_ratings.aspx They show a 2003 having spark plugs breaking when replacing but the problem was all the way up to 2007. I replaced mine without breaking any at 80,000 miles. If they are done earlier than 100,000 miles, they're less apt to have the problem.

I would look for loose change under the seats and sun glasses left in the seat pockets....

But seriously the major differences were the creature comforts of the Lincoln and the 4V heads on the Lincoln motors that offered a little higher performance. But by this age the creature comfort items were more prone to failure and headaches with repairs. The less frilly Expeditions would be the better choice in my opinion. I never liked the view of the Navigator from the rear either. It just looked funky. I think Lincoln always goes overboard with the chrome accents too. It's a 6,000 lbs refridgerator on wheels ! Stop trying to make it look like a Town Car...
