Stock tires are 31.6" tall and the 305 tires you mentioned are 32.8" tall. With some offset wheels they should fit; so the tire doesn't rub the frame when you turn the wheel (lock-to-lock). Make sure that the smaller 16" wheels you get will fit over the brake calipers.
Your bolt pattern is 5-135mm, not sure of the lug thickness though.
Also of note: 305/40R22 tires are also the same diameter as stock and are the width you're after. The 305/70R16's may not rub with standard wheel fitment providing the 16's can fit over the brakes. Good luck!
