I have a 2000 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer. It has 17 inch rims with 265/70/17 tires on it.

My buddy gave me a set of 305/70/16 Buckshot tires with a lot of good tread on them. I''m wanting to mount them on a separate set of rims so I can change them out when the weather gets bad or I want to go to the river.

My question is what size of 16 inch rims will fit on my Expedition. 16X7''s? 16X7.5''s? Are the lugs 12mm, or 14mm?

Stock tires are 31.6" tall and the 305 tires you mentioned are 32.8" tall. With some offset wheels they should fit; so the tire doesn't rub the frame when you turn the wheel (lock-to-lock). Make sure that the smaller 16" wheels you get will fit over the brake calipers.

Your bolt pattern is 5-135mm, not sure of the lug thickness though.

Also of note: 305/40R22 tires are also the same diameter as stock and are the width you're after. The 305/70R16's may not rub with standard wheel fitment providing the 16's can fit over the brakes. Good luck!
