Hi All,

First post here. Today I got a used 2003 EB Expedition with Audiophile in-dash 6-Disc CD/AM/FM. I have steering wheel controls, but no rear DVD. As I knew, the CD player doesn't work (won't eject, won't load, won't play, CD ERROR).

My question is, will an in-dash 6-disc changer from a later year ('07 or '08) work with my setup? What years or other models are compatible? Or, maybe the Blaupunkt from the Focus (?) that has MP3 support? I don't want to just buy another 9006 or whatever, they all have the CD issues. I want something that is Ford factory, but hopefully plays CDs and MP3s (clarification: not wanting line-in for MP3 player, but read MP3 files from disc). Thanks so much!

I'm surprised nobody has tried this, but after extensive searching, I just called a local stereo place that does all Ford factory installation. He said that in my case, only a 6CD Audiophile can be used without a very custom installation. Other years or models won't work, he claimed that even the single-disc CD player from the same year (because it is non-Audiophile) won't work. The charge to fix one is $340. Cost on eBay: $100. So, I'm stuck buying a new 6CD changer from eBay every year as they break, until they are unavailable anymore. Unless I want to give up my Audiophile sub, which I don't. There is a harness out there for an aftermarket player, but I like the factory look. There are not many double-din CD players that have green lights to match!

If anyone has had any luck putting an '05 or newer CD player (new style), please let me know, that would be the best solution for me. Hopefully this helps others in the same boat.

I hardly ever turn my radio on so I don't have any experience with installs or mods but somebody here will probably post here. We thank you for the information you posted. I'm sure that will help someone.
