I've just got hold of some 16" simmons mags but no tyres. What tyres are recommended for 225 50 16, which i could get some decent kays out off?
i travel a min of 500ks a week up and down the h'way so i need something that will last pretty well.

If its long life and kays you want, go for the cheapest tyre you can find.

I had the Toyo FZ4s on my wagon and I got 55,000 klicks out of a set. The FZ4 was directional, good grip, low noise but unfortunatly no longer available in a 50 series 16". When I went looking for a replacement I was told to try the new Non-Directional Tranpath SW (still Toyo) and so far I'm more than happy with them. They're available from any Tyrepower store and very well priced (I paid less than $140.00 per tyre but I did also buy my first set from there too) Have a look at them at: www.toyo.com.au

Dunlop SP3000s will last you ages if you look after them. The highest I've seen is around 65,000 kays on one set, but that was mostly highway driving. Price might be a bit of an issue though.

Why not go for a taller profile? It would throw your speedo out, but there would be less revolutions for the same distance and slightly better economy as well....
