17" mag wheel style suggestion

I want to put 17 x 8 or even 17 x 9 wheels that suit a to ED Falcoon Fairmont. Any suggestions for wheel style. I was thinking to put some EB GT rims on but dont know if they fit without wheel guards. I also want to know if 255/40/17 will fit on the rear and 245/40/17 on the fronts. Tyre suggestion would be good. I also need to lower it. Any ideas on lowering kits. I was going to use Whiteline or Lovells with some Konis

EB GT will fit, but check with your insurance company.
Most companies dont like them, because they are 8.5" wide.
If you can find a set, you will pay a fair bit for them.
Why do you want to go so wide?
What sort of power are you putting out, or is it just for the look?

Re: 17" mag wheel style suggestion

I have Antera type 309s, 17/ 8.5. Were on there when I bought the car (EF11 Fairmont Ghia). Very nice looking rim, have 255/40 on back and 235/40 on front( also on there when I bought it). I am going back to 235s all round because i cannot rotate tyres. Very expensive Dunlop Formulas 901s on it, nearly 500 each. Needless to say i wont be buying them when i replace. 240 maybe a bit wide for the front, more drag on the steering, and maybe hit the gaurds when you lower it.

Re: 17" mag wheel style suggestion

Thanks for that, At least now I know 255s will fit on rear. This is a 550whp turbo six EA in the making. The bigger the rears the better. The look is important to a degree but also I want a rim which is common in case I need to replace one in years to come. In alot of cases if you bung an odd style rim from 5 years ago, you might as well buy a new set cause you wont find a replacement.
