1984 E350 rear brake drum removal

Does the axle need to be removed to get the brake drum off? I've never seen anything like this before.

You shouldn't have to remove the axle, you will probably need a 2x4 board or something similar to knock it out with as it's undoubtedly rusted on reallllll tight.
