Im about to put 17inch hopsters on a galaxie, and would like to go with a 245 section tire---most manufacturers list that size tire on a 7.5 or 8inch wheel---do you guys see any problems with it on a 7inch wide wheel? i realize the sidewalls may bulge a little more than would be on a 7.5 inch---------(245/50r17)------what do you think?

no. So im not bound by anything in particular. Just like 17inch wheels and would like a little meat on 'em... but im open to suggestions.

So if you want to run 245's why not get wider wheels?

Yeah----just pushin the borders of my budget already---- dont think i would have any probs with an 8inch wheel- just hoping i could go with sevens and be done

I run 225's on an 8" rim.

If you want to rin 245's, 8" would be the minimum, with 9" being preferable.

I run 255's on a 17x7.5" rim, And dad's ran 285's on his 17x8's so there will be no dramas

didnt you say you were getting hopsters? arent they american racing mags..... hence rather expensive(or so i have always been led to believe)??? perhaps if you got a cheaper mag in a larger size... that is if they are expensive... if not let me know, cause i wouldnt mind putting hopsters on my coupe.

Yeah---- I bought 1 wheel (17 inch x 7 hopster) and 1 tire (255/50r17) and test fitted-----figured would cost less to ship back if itdidnt fit------but it fits great------a 255/50 will fit on a 7inch wide wheel--and it clears everywhere- front and back----the hopsters look great ! if youre interested- the cheapest place i found them was at "street and track"---mine were 208.00 each-----about $30 cheaper each than with summit or jegs. (they were $11 ea to ship from CA. to TN.)
