Hey guys, i got some really nice 19 inc DJR style rims for my xr6, so the callipers are more obvious than before, i would really like to spray them in the Blueprint Blue to match the car colour.i obviously need high degrees paint, has anyone done it? Where & when to get it from?
Re: Advice Please: Painting Callipers Blueprint Blue
Gday mate,
I will be doing the same to my car next time i change over my pads and rotors. I would say that you wouldnt be able to get blueprint in a high temp paint but you should be able to get something close. Maybe you could just pull the calipers for a few days and get a spray painter to do them in blueprint for ya.
Re: Advice Please: Painting Callipers Blueprint Blue
what you will need to do is get them powder coated, or you can go the cheaper option and purhcase hi temp spray cans from the local car paint shop in a blue color
Re: Advice Please: Painting Callipers Blueprint Blue
Umm, i've heard that painting them can keep the heat in, and have more chance of failure? Probably powdercoat them, this would stop the heat accumulating..
Re: Advice Please: Painting Callipers Blueprint Blue
You don't need to use high temp paint on brake callipers. They do not get that hot, and if they did get hot enough to affect your paint on the callipers, I think that's the last thing you would be worried about - the first being a distinct lack of brakes!
I have painted 3 sets of calipers with $2.50 Export paint and/or holts duplicolour, and all 3 cars still have the painted calipers in perfect condition (apart from brake dust).
