Ok guys i rang up ford insure to list my Steering wheel as a accessory and its now covered. I asked about wheels they said they will cover me with 17" 7.5 with a 0-5mm posative offset im guessing thats the AU offset and not E series mags ect offset am i correct at thinking that. Also alowed to lower 30mm so are king spring lows 30mm lowering springs.

Thnaks guys any help appreciated no point doing anything if i cant bloody get insurance.

King spring lows are 30mm, same as Tickford Suspension. If they'll cover you for 17x7.5 you can't put XR 17's on as they're 17x8

yeah sorry guys i asked her for the 17x 7.5 not realizing they were 17 x 8 i just re rang and she said they were fine. as long as there to that offset

For AU's you need rims with a positive offset between 30mm and 40mm. The AU1 and AU2 17" Tickfords have an offset of 36mm. For example, if you had two rims of 17" by 8", one with a +30mm and the other with a +40mm offset, the +30mm would stick out 10mm more towards the guard lip than the +40mm rim. Offsets of 0 to +10mm are for pre AU Falcons. You can fit pre AU Falcon rims onto AU's, but not vise versa, it'll just stick out 30mm more towards the guard lip that's all. Might be ok on the rear, just to fill the guards up a bit more and would give a AU a wider track at the rear.

It is possible to put AU rims on pre AU falcons, I've seen quite a few getting around. Yesterday I saw a shitbox EA GL with AU2 XR 17" rims...

Not without spacers which are illegal. The rears might fit but the fronts will foul on the suspension upright.

Those rims are copies with pre-AU offsets!

Those spacers are supposed to be crap anyway, was at bob-jane T-mart the other day and they had 2 boxes of them that were being sent back due to problems with them.

Yes i realise you'll need spacers to fit AU rims on pre AU falcons, but as I said, it can be done.
