Thumbs down AUII Brake bleeders

Since my car is two years old, I decided to flush the brake fluid. Rear brakes no problem but what lunatic decided the location for the front brake bleeders? I case you haven't seen - they're located behind the caliper facing straight into the suspension upright. Not much fun working in there.

Guess I should have removed the calipers - is that how you guys do it?
