AUII Brake knocking noise

I have noticed when braking with my AUII XR6 work ute that there is a knocking sound coming from the front end just as I come to a stop and when I release the brakes.
I have read a thread somewhere which says it is a common problem. Is there a cure for this knock as it starting to give me the sh*ts.

I know what it is!

I know exactly what this one is. Had the same problem on my AUII XR6 sedan. It's your balljoints. Bloody annoying noise isn't it. At first I thought it was my calipers. Apparently a problem with a lot of AUII's.

I can tell you the symptoms. Clunking noise on stopping and moving from stop. Doesn't matter how quickly you stop or start it still seems to be bloody loud. Gets louder the more stopping and strating you do. Doesn't do it with normal driving, but get stuck in stop start traffic and it'll have you going insane in no time.

Ford fixed mine with the last service. Didn't replace, just said they turned them out and cracked them or something a rather. Have driven the car about 3,500 km since that service and the noise has definately gone. So after a long period of being pissed off, I'm actually sort of happy now the noise has gone. I say sort of because I have had the accelerator cable reaplced four times, and now my passengers power wndow doesn't go down from the drivers door control.

Hope this helps you out.

Regards,

P.S. Don't let Ford bullshit you that they don't know what it is (remembering a short drive won't reveal the problem), as they are fully aware that there is this problem with AUII's.

Thank you.
Mine does the same, but its only now and then.
Thought I was hearing things.
Looks like Ford gets some more warranty work.
