i had a clunking noise coming from rear suspension recently, and after investstigation i found the top spring/shocky mount had chopped out the rubber, meaning the alum bushe was flopping around in the rubber making a ungodly clunk. i replaced both left and right bushes, (very easy task, took half hour per side, apart from spanners and 1/2 drv rattle gun, spring compressors where the only tool i had to borrow from a mate) anyway, what i was wanting to know is, does anyone with a AUII XR8 had this issue, cos i think it must be common, cos that suspension is heavy, very tractable, more so than commy IRS, but heavy. anyone?

Every one I know with an IRS AU have had this problem, most more than once.
This is a very common issue with all AU IRS. The shock mounts are crap & every IRS AU will at sometime have this problem.

man am i P***ed, i spoke to ford about this under warranty and they said that there wasn't an issue with the irs, and when i went to buy some from spare parts, they had nearly 30 of each in stock, and i said to parts guy, if there isn't a problem with these mounts chopping out, why do u have so many in stock? he said, quietly, we are still replacing them under warranty on some seriesIII AU's, but he said, they aren't informing customer, just replacing them when servicing the vehicle.
i think i will call ford monday, and have a little chat with them.
thanks for reply, confirms my suspicion
