Ford dealers have taken the knife to the price of the new Falcon -- and added equipment.
Falcon XT automatics, now $1670 cheaper at $32,990 plus on-road costs, have 17-inch alloy wheels, sports suspension, body kit and rear spoiler.
Ford values this package at about $5000.</b>
The XT already includes dual airbags, anti-lock brakes, air-conditioning, CD player and central locking.
A stronger Aussie dollar has enabled Ford to sharpen its European-built Focus (pictured) by a further $1000 -- the base 1.8-litre CL four-door sedan and five-door hatch is $19,980 plus on-road costs with free air-conditioning, a $2680 saving. Four-speed automatic adds $2000.
Standard CL fare includes driver's airbag, CD player, tilt-adjustable steering, front fog lamps and steering wheel-mounted audio controls.
Buyers who finance a CL through Ford Credit get 12 months' free comprehensive insurance -- a saving, depending on the buyer's age and driving record, of up to several thousand dollars.
City Ford in Sydney's Surry Hills has extended the free insurance deal to the better-equipped Focus LX and cut the price by $1080. Sedan and hatch are $24,990 plus on-roads for the manual, $26,990 auto.

I wonder if this XT special pack is available with the Barra220. The ones I have seen on the car lots had those great looking 7 spoke rims:
Re: BA XT plus 17" alloys, sports suspension & body kit
Yes it is.
You could get a Barra 182 or the Barra 220 with a floor auto or manual (in either).
97% of the cars Dealers order though would be 182 autos, so if you are after a V8 -- better run on down to your Dealer and sign on the dotted line, so they go get the right specc'ed car for you.

I see what you're thinking Chris - and yes it would be a great buy
Black XT 220 (manual) with said sports kit and those 7 spokers...

yeh when dad and i went to get our lease done on the xr6 they were trying to get us into one of these sports pack xt's, pay little extra and get heaps more. Yet the xr6 just looks too good and you cant get premium sound on the xt's i dont think, plus tassie needs more xr's to combat the s brigade

Yipeee
Im currently shopping for best changeover price on one of these in Offshore Blue -most probably- with a few options (dark tint, fast glass all round, cruise, towpack, mob phone holder, mp3 input, boot liner, muspats all round).
Hope to sign on the line this friday.
I like the wheels, they look slick, and they have sports suspension.
yippee
Re: BA XT plus 17" alloys, sports suspension & body kit
I got factory fit rear power windows and 6 cd.
Thats why it has to go on "special order". Aint none around with them options.
I decided on Silver, but said if theres an offshore with the right kit on it available for quicker delivery, I could live with it. They checked round said, "pick your colour, its gotta be built to order". So I will ring dealer Friday and see if they got confirmation or Sido number, or approx date.
Thers one advantage of 2nd hand car, instant gratification. Drive it home that day.
Re: BA XT plus 17" alloys, sports suspension & body kit
I just got a call from the dealer. He gave me a SIDO and said its due to go in production NEXT WEEK
YIPPPPEEEEEEEE
He thinks I should have it for christmas. SO long as they dont rush it and mess up anything, I couldnt be happier!
Is there something I can do to track the SIDO and check?
Better still guys if anyone working at Broadmeadows sees SIDO 467863 gliding down the line.. give it a little polish and extra tighten of all the bolts.
(i dont want the last car before christmas break either.)
Will keep you posted on progress and pix when its in my driveway making the neighbours green
