Does anybody know what the best price is for 17in tyres 235/45/17. Im not looking for cheap and nasty just good value and quality.

Names like:

Goodyear
Simex
Hankook
Michelin
Bridgestone?
GT Radial
Continental
any other brand you could recommend?

Expecting to pay no more than $170pertyre if possible. Any suggestions?

I have Falken ZE-326, I have seen them on special for around $180 at Bob Jane and Quickfit, so you may be able to push for them at under $170. They are a silica based directional tyre and I have found them to be better than the Kuhmo Ecsta(?) tyres which I had previously.

I was told a brand called ceat tornado are damn good tyres in 17s. They are what i was going to get but couldnt get the rims in 17s.

I just had new Maxiis Tyres fitted from Bob Jane, $179 a tyre.

Best price I could get for 17's, Im sure they are not the best tyre around but no complaints from me so far. Budget is very tight at the moment so that won out over going for something more exxy.

Bridgestone SO3's were the best 235/45/17 tyre I have ever driven on. I replaced them with Yoko's A539's. These are still a very good tyre, but they are not in the same league as the SO3's.

Hanooks are the best value for money out of that lot.

235/45/R17 will set you back around $190 for their top of the line.

Kumho 712s are another good tyre but not as good as the Hanooks in the wet and they are around the same price.

Guys on the forums are getting 35000 kms out of them so they are hard wearing.
