Brake fluid change

How often should brake fluid be changed...I've heard various timeframes.

will changing brake fluid make a huge difference to stopping time?

I change mine everytime I change pads; stops spongey brakes and corrosion of wheel cylinders.

The ford manual says it should be done every 24 months.
It should mate a little bit of diference.
