My recently purchased 2008 gas Escape just turned 83K and is providing comfortable, dependable transportation. My only concern with it is that when rolling to a stop, the brake pedal will "bump" down what feels like about a half inch towards the floor. When this happens, it does not affect the stop distance. It has disc on front, drums on rear. It does not do this every time I stop. Warm or cold doesn't matter. I have not noticed it ever under hard braking. There is no pulling right or left in the steering before, during or after teh bump. I have had it happen with the radio and A/C off and there is no sound or sensation familiar to ABS being activated. Have not seen any codes or indications on the dash.
Should I be thinking about a new master cylinder? It feels like the primary or secondary piston is hanging up occasionally and when enough pressure gets behind it and it breaks loose... for lack of a better description :<)
Any direction you can provide is greatly appreciated!
