Brake Part Recommendations
Hello,
I am asking for suggestions on what brake parts to use on my 2000 Taurus. A little background info - in December 2010 I had to replace my front brake pads and rotors because they were getting rather thin. I used the O'Reilly house brand (Brake Best) for these parts. Well, these things are crap. After a couple months they started grabbing, so I took them back in April, the staff at O'Reilly turned the rotors at no charge and gave them back to me. I put them back on, and all was well. It's now a few months later, and they are grabbing again.
Rather than screw around with these again, I am looking for suggestions/opinions on a different brand to try. Should I stick with the Motorcraft parts? How about the Raybestos stuff? Ceramic or semi-metallic? I am now seeing these "sport" rotors with holes drilled through them for additional cooling. Is there really a need for this?
A note about my driving: I am on dark two-lane highways several hundred miles per week. Quite often I need to brake hard from 65 MPH to a dead stop to avoid deer as soon as my headlights pick them up. So, naturally, I need to use parts that can put up with this.
Thanks for your suggestions!
