I just saw that the government are investigating faulty tire valves, there is a recall out but it doesn't cover my vehicle. I have 2 cracked tire valve stems, someone at the dealer said if it isnt leaking air they cant replace it. Isnt this covered under warranty?? is this something to worry about? Because ive read it could cause a blowout on the freeway?
I would have them replaced. A valve stem is cheap. The tires do not even need to be rebalanced afterwards. I would just eat the $6.00 cost for new valves and have a local dealer replace them.
I have a 2007 Ford Edge with the same problem. The front two valve stems went bad causing the tires to deflate within the same week. Ford repaired the ones that deflated but refuses to repair the back two that are cracked.
As mentioned above this may only cost you $6.00 and a little bit of your time. Well worth it though to keep you and you passengers safe. Stop by one of our stores if we have one in your area. They will be happy to help you with them.
