I need some info about disc conversion on a 66 1/2 T. I have read something about 73 thru 79 will interchange with 67-72 but a 74 F100 is to be used for parts for 65-66 models.
??? If 73 thru 79 are interchangeable why use a 74 for the 65 and 66 models.

66 to 79 will interchange. i dont think your limited to useing parts from a 74. i had read that a lot of guys swap the i beams over from the mid 70's trucks. i dont know if theres any advantage to swapping over the i beams. you might be able to just swap over the spindles to convert to disc. ive never done this conversion before so i'm not 100% sure.

I wonder if the track was wider on the 67 to 79 modesl and that would make a difference. Dropping either axle after disconnecting the brake line and the steering just replace the axle bushing and the radius arm bushings would simplfy the swap. Using a new brake line and steering linkage which probably need replacing anyhow would be easier.
I probably have access to a 79 truck for parts.

You can make the change at the spindles if you use the king pins for the later model. For example,( 1976 spindles can be used if you use the 1976 king pins, and not the 66 king pins). Ford truck king pins are the same diameter but are different lengths due to different thickness in the bearings, shims, or axles. If you don't want to get into the king pin situation then you will have to change the whole I beam.
