The sp3000A Dunlop tyres have now been replaced under warranty(all 4) for having cracks in the side walls. It's great to have them replaced but.... I still find it strange that I have to pay for the removal and refit of those tyres and a wheel alignment when clearly it is a new car warranty fault. If it was any other part that failed on the car I would not have to pay for labour.
Well it doesn't really have anything to do with the new car warranty, because I don't think tyres are covered by it. They are covered by their own warranty, and that's only the tyres. Since the tyreshop are acting as agents for Dunlop (Dunlop doesn't own/operate any tyreshops), they need to recover their costs. Dunlop won't wear the costs because it's got nothing to do with fitting tyres or alignments - they only supply the tyres. Had the tyres been fitted up incorrectly by a deal, you could probably do something there.
I understand where you're coming from but it's just the way it works matey. Not that it's right.
Thanks for your opinion. I have had a few people asking me why I had to pay for fitting etc when it was a warranty issue...just got me thinking. I think I'll let it go.
