My steering rack in my ED XR6 is no good. Pedders want $400 for a reco, but i'm considering getting a good one from the wreckers - i'm getting the BBM set-up so it it might work out cheaper getting the lot. Does the EL/AU rack bolt straight in, or are they different lengths/shapes,etc?

EF==> racks wont work with your steering column. $400 for a reco is insane. $250 is what most wreckers would charge for an exchange reco unit

if you change the column as well, you can then fit EF - AU momo steering wheels, grab a blown out airbag to use the covers from a wreckers

ED racks are different to EF and EF is different to EL EL are different to AU, if ya want a reco exchange one i can do ya one with 2 year 50,000k warranty for $242 and you organise freight, from brisbane

doesn't the EF/EL one bolt up slightly different as well (Kframe wise)

Thanks all for the info. I actually had a look myself to see if there is any adjustment for freeplay(after Pedders said that "No, there's no adjustment on the rack, when they get loose you need another one"), and there is! I backed off the locking ring then took out the freeplay, and it worked very well - virtually no rattle and more stable on the road(less floaty feel). 'Cobalt bucket' - i'll see how it goes for a while, and if I still need a rack i'll let you know......

Go to a real suspension place... Fulcrum are pretty good if you have a store there.
