G'day
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me any info about the 15" EL wheels, the ones like the XE 'S' pak rims, but with smaller holes and more of them. Are they the wheels that are standard under the hub caps?
I've seen some black and others silver, are they what's referred to as 'chaser' rims? If they are, what are they made of? Are any alloy, or are they all steel?
Are they also the same as the ones on the AU fitting the same description?
I'm thinking of either getting some and either painting or polishing them along with some fatter rubber as a stop-gap solution while I save up for some good mags for the XE.
Yeah theyre basically known as chaser or pursuit rims, theyre pretty much standard fitment under hubcaps from EF onwards ( possibly ED also )
Basically a 15" x 6.5? steel rim, standard is black but most paint them silver ( think they were silver from AU onwards )
you can pick them up for as little as $5 a rim, or nothing at all if you are lucky

Black Steelies ( too cheap to buy proper mags )
EF/L steelies are all 15x7, they're not alloys and the colour does vary from silver to black, theyre still all made of steel though. And yes, they are called 'chaser' rims due to the fact that cops take the hubcaps off, thus making the steelies/chasers visible.
If you're after a set of mags, I reckon it's hard to go past the set of 4 EA-EL 16" rims for $520 the set (plus rubber) from Brian Glynn Ford as advertised on this site (see attached pic). These rims will fit an XE, and they look good - just depends on your location though, as freight will bump the price up.
