Enquiring about suspension height

I'm getting new springs to correct the height, got a sagging spring. Mechanic said my shocks are good, and no need to change them so long as i don't go too low. I'm after ride height just a bit lower than XR, was XR lower that S? in King springs theres low and super low? what to get

Ring up your local cop shop, or Queensland Transport or whatever it is called these days, and find out the "eye brow height" of your car, since all cars are measured differently includin different models under their height measurements...

If you have no luck, i know its interstate, but 08 82076000 is the number to ring, ask to speak to someone in the traffic section, then ask about the lowest legal height for your car and they will help you, the traffic cops here in SA are very helpful with that

oh no, i'm not after the lowest i can go, i'm just wanting to make the car look a bit better whil improving handling. Just want to know if XR suspension height was lower, it looks like it. But what does low? and superlow mean? different people say different measurement, depends who you ask

king springs low is just like XR suspension, its bout 20-30mm lower than standard i think, the super lows should put u on the minimum height clearance for your car i believe, it all goes down to what u want, i have king spring lows, they give better handling and what not, make it a bit stiffer and tougher looking, but dont sacrifice too much on the driveablility (eg bottoming out)

Superlows are only 50-60mm which is 2" - 2 1/3"
Lows are 20-30mm which is 3/4" - 1 1/4"

The reason why this height varies so much is that as springs sag they alter the ride height of a car - make it lower - so putting lows on a car with sagged standard springs might not make the improvement you are looking for. Also even standard replacement King Springs are lower than Ford factory ones because they have different ride profiles and still deliver the same level travel within a smaller length coil.

And when people say my car was lowered 3.5" are they actually measuring it using an inches ruler? Most people have no idea what an inch is and often overstate it - i.e. I have a 10" ****

So 3.5" might really only be 2.5".

Thats what I've been told through different sources anyway..

Dan..
