i have a set of M\T slicks on my mustang and the car hasnt moved in probably 3 or 4 weeks. today i took it up the street and back b\c saturday is race day and i wanted to make sure everything was ok, as i was driving the car slowly, it was jumping up and down in the rear slightly, the more i drove it the less it did it. i would just assume it is the tires but i just changed u-joints and i was afraid it was them, so i checked them and they are fine. so the question is, will a slick get a temporary flat spot if it sits in one spot for a couple weeks, i drove it at about 40mph and didnt feel it, anything to worry about?
Yeah slicks get flat spots, probably worse than regular tyres. Just run it up to 100km/h for a few minutes to roll it out. When parking for a few weeks roll the car back 5 inches then forward 12 inches every week to stop the flat spot.
oh i had a terrible track day, poor weather only got 2 runs, 1st one i lost traction and let out and second one, i had a bowl stick and wouldnt let the carb fill so it ran lean and cut out of fuel early so it was just a wasted day.
