i can get front struts from ford spare parts for $78 each or i can get GT gas from autobarn for $94 each..what are the ones ford hand out like?? are they as good as the monroe gt gas??

most ppl who lower their cars generally go with Monroe GT Gas if they're on a budget.
so i guess they'd be better then the ford ones

Monroe GT gas are rather firm , but should handle better. The ford ones (also made by monroe i believe) will give a smoother ride....

Yes, the ford shocks are also made by monroe. The gt gas are slightly firmer than the standards. That would be my choice, the ride wont be too harsh, as compared to say a pedders red (which are also made by monroe)

i heard that Pedders were going from gabriel to monroe about 6 months ago....but cant confirm if its happened yet

i worked at monroe for a fair while and as long as i can remember they made pedders shocks and a lot of others you would be surprised about...

OEM Ford shocks are Monroe, as are Pedders.
If I were you I would grab the aftermarket Monroes. They will be firmer and make the car handle better.

sikEA/mutlley i'm sorry but let me correct you both......
The car and 4wd manufacturing of Pedders product was with Gabriel from around 1990 to 2000, the car program went to Monroe due to the A$ going so low around the '00 period, the 4wd program is still being made by Gabriel.
Prior to 1990 Monroe was making Pedder product.
mutlley during the Gabriel relationship Pedder was getting Monroe to make brand new 90/10 series shocks for early Holdens/Fords for drag racing which that is still happening today.

As for wacka's senario if you're on a tight budget go the Motorcraft, valving is slightly softer than the GT's. Have you checked with Repco ? They normally throw the Monroe's away at trade price over the counter.
