got a new set of greenstuff pads, when we went to put them on one off the backing plates flew off (the one that holds it t the caliper), are the rivets meant to be flattend out to hold the pad on because theese ones arnt

I had this problem they sent me a new set, i had the spring fall off when i was driving.

On the new set i got a Centre punch and splayed the boss with three centre pop hits.

They arnt going anywhere now.

I know plenty of guys with GenIII commodes using greenstuff but they have had no problems

For a set of pads that cost this much you would think that they could get it right, dosent leave a good first time impression

Not a good impression at all. I was going to get a set in the next few weeks, but seeing that two people in this forum alone have had that problem, I might stay with the Ultimates.

i could buy a supercheap set of pads for $10 which would have the plates held on better- but i suppose they probably wouldent stop as well

That's pretty crappy quality control I have to say.

I didn't have any problem with the ones I had.

I'd also say that you shouldn't let this sort of thing put you off (it's still a bummer tho) - because when it comes down to it they are fantastic performing pads.
