Handbrake Problems.

Iv been trying to get the h/brake cable out of my ea because it has threaded and is jamming up, Iv disconnected the cable from the handbreak its self but dont know how to get it through the bottom of the floor because the ball on the end of the cable wont fit through the hole that passes through to the bottom of the car that attaches to the leaver for the handbrake's second assembly. Iv taken the a clip off the rubber shaft that meets the floor but cant seem to remove it to pull the cable through the floor. can some one please explain to do this in more detail for me????? If you have done it before you would know what im talking about.

The easiest way is to remove the whole hand-brake assembly & cable from under the dash & pull it out from inside. You need to undo the bracket at the top of the hand-brake & the nuts that fasten it to the floor (13mm nuts). You will also need to undo the 3 small nuts that hold the plate at the bottom of the hand-brake where it passes through the firewall, these are undone from the engine bay (10mm nuts). You can then pull the whole lot out from inside the car. It's much easier than trying to attach the new cable with the handbarke still in the car. Hope this helps. Mal.
