Can someone give me a quick run down on tyres and rim sizes etc... the only 2 numbers i know how to read are 14" is the diameter of the mags and 225 is the width of the tyres... amdone guess what type of car they're off of?

say you got some 17" rims. do they have a set width you can put on like 225 or 235 or can you put on almost any width...
lasty does anyone know of some Tickford 17" rims with 245's on em? i saw some tickford rims on a BAXT 18" 245 but i'd rather 17" so the tyres look a bit wider......

245/45R17 = 245mm wide, sidewall profile is 45% of the total tyre width and rim 17 inch.

rims dont neccassarily have a specified width tyre, manufacturers do. different states have different laws regarding how much wider from standard u can go. whenever u change the tyre size from the original factory recommended size u will effect the speedo accuracy.

here's a good tyre size calculator that'll help try and maintain speedo accuracy by altering tyre size.
